Shortboards
They will usually be around 1.70 m to 2.0m in length. They are for experienced surfer, very manoeuvrable but they are even very difficult to control. These kind of surfboards are of no use for beginners.
Funboards
They will usually be around 2.30 m in length. They are good for beginners, they are wider and thicker than a shotboard, and they have a more rounded nose. By them it 's easy to catch waves and they are very manoeuvrable. These boards are very useful if you surf where waves are small or they lack in power
Longboard (malibù)
They will usually be over 2.60 m in length. They have a much more rounded nose, they are even wider and thicker than the previous boards. These kind of boards are ridden in a different way.The style is smoother and there is more attention on moving up and down on the deck of the board and surfing with five or ten toes over the nose(nose riding). Nowadays, lighter longboards can feature shortboards-style moves. They are good for beginners but they can be hard to turn and to get through larger waves.
Minimalibù
They will usually be around 2.30 m in length. These smaller longboards can be good for beginners because they offer a lot of flotation and stability and they are easier to paddle. They are very useful in summer small waves
